Steam turbines bearings are often subjected to high loads, high speeds and high temperatures, especially as capacity and efficiency demands increase.

To ensure optimum dynamic characteristics in specific operating conditions, BHS Bearings applies a variety of specialized design features to bearing solutions.

For medium turbines used plain journal bearing. They may be ring lubricated sleeve bearings with bronze or Babbitt lining. Both flooded and force types are employed.

For larger turbines, the radial bearing will be a tilting pad type. The number of pad per bearing will be selected based on the weight of the rotor. For these types of bearing forced lubrication is used.

The thrust bearing is located on the free end of the rotor or we can say at the steam inlet of the turbine. The axial thrust force is very small for impulse turbines. This is due to the presence of pressure equalizing holes in the rotor discs to balance the thrust force generated across the disc. A simple thrust bearing such as a radial babbitt facing on journal bearings are commonly used in small and medium-size turbines. Tilling pad thrust bearings are used in the large steam turbines.Our bearings are exchangeable of GE bearing,Siemens bearings.

For this purpose, high-temperature grease can be used as a lubricant. This kind of grease has high high-temperature stability and lubrication performance, and can maintain the lubrication effect under high-temperature and long-term working conditions.
The material selection and design of bearings need to consider factors such as thermal expansion and thermal stress at high temperatures. High-temperature environments will cause thermal expansion of bearing materials, so materials with good thermal expansion properties need to be selected and designed accordingly. One commonly used material is high-temperature alloy steel, which has high thermal stability and resistance to thermal expansion.
Bearings also need to have good thermal stress resistance in high temperature environments. Since high temperature environments can cause transient thermal stress in bearings, the structure and design of the bearings need to take this factor into account. Why do steam turbine bearings need good sealing performance?

There are impurities such as dust, abrasive particles, and moisture in the operating environment of steam turbines. If these impurities enter the bearings, they will cause problems such as friction, wear, and scratches.
When designing and selecting steam turbine bearings, the sealing performance of the bearing needs to be considered. Sealing performance can be achieved by selecting appropriate sealing structures and materials. Commonly used sealing structures include contact seals and non-contact seals.
